Summary

Our Craft Group is one of the many day therapy activities that take place at the hospice. We need helpers who can support patients, so they can join in.

Detailed description

We're recruiting volunteers to support our craft group on Friday afternoons. This group, one of many activities at the hospice, gives people the opportunity to find new skills through a creative project. Patients can use these projects to help deal with emotional issues - some of which may be confusing or distressing. Some like to create something as a remembrance of a life lived - like a memory box or scrapbook of things significant to that person’s life. Or maybe they'll put together a life history, a cookery book or a sound recording.

Your role will be to make patients welcome and feel at ease - helping in any practical way, or just by listening.

Sessions are for two hours, once a week, but you'd be needed a bit before and a bit after.

This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.

Getting there

The hospice is in the village of Hillington, near King's Lynn. There's only limited public transport so you'd need a car to get here.

About Tapping House

Tapping House hospice is committed to providing outstanding care for people in the local community living with life-shortening illnesses and to their carers, family and friends including bereavement support.
The support provided is tailored to the individual, encompassing their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs in an understanding, caring and compassionate way, ensuring dignity is maintained throughout.
Care is delivered at the hospice in Hillington, either in the Inpatient Unit, at Day Therapy groups or one-to-one sessions at the hospice. Care is sometimes provided in people’s own homes. Our outstanding care services cost a staggering £6.7million to provide each year and this year alone we will need to raise £5 million to provide the care patients truly deserve. We rely on the majority of this coming from the support of local groups, businesses and individuals.
