Summary

The hospice offers patients a wide range of therapeutic activities throughout the week. Could you help people to take part?

Detailed description

As part of our day therapy team at the Tulip Centre, volunteers encourage and work with patients taking part in therapeutic exercise or hobbies. For some groups you'll need a level of physical fitness so that you can support the group members in their activities - they can be both indoor and outdoor.

For our Woodworking Group you'll need some carpentry and DIY knowledge to help at this one.

At Lynnsport on Tuesday afternoons we have a Fishing Group - you'd be helping with rods, reels and catches!

The Circuit Exercise Group offers individualised programmes of short, circuit based exercises - with warm up and cool down and a mixture of actions.

Our Seated Yoga Group is on Friday mornings.

But if you can't help on any specific day do still contact us as we often need volunteers for other activities.

All sessions provide opportunities for sharing experiences, worries, fears, accomplishments - and they offer the social benefits of making friends within the group and a chance to have fun.

About Tapping House

Tapping House hospice is committed to providing outstanding care for people in the local community living with life-shortening illnesses and to their carers, family and friends including bereavement support.
The support provided is tailored to the individual, encompassing their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs in an understanding, caring and compassionate way, ensuring dignity is maintained throughout.
Care is delivered at the hospice in Hillington, either in the Inpatient Unit, at Day Therapy groups or one-to-one sessions at the hospice. Care is sometimes provided in people’s own homes. Our outstanding care services cost a staggering £5.7million to provide each year and this year alone we will need to raise £4.1 million to provide the care patients truly deserve. We rely on the majority of this coming from the support of local groups, businesses and individuals.
