Supporting safe volunteering: Join Momentum and Safer to explore how organisations can safeguard and support their young volunteers effectively. Thursday 11th September · 10am - 12pm· Online The aim of this session is to explore how to effectively safeguard and support under 18’s so that they can have a positive volunteering experience. The learning outcomes for the session are: • To recognise what constitutes safer working practices for under 18’s. • To discuss different measures that can be implemented to support young volunteers. • To explain what legislation and guidance applies to young volunteers. • To identify suitable safeguarding practices when using virtual or remote volunteering opportunities. This session will be beneficial to organisations that already have young volunteers or those organisations who are looking into taking on volunteers under 18 for the first time. The session will be delivered by Gemma Hampton, The Safer Programme Co-ordinator from The Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership. Gemma provides advice and information on all aspects of safeguarding children. She creates safeguarding training courses and keeps these updated with local and national changes. Gemma also reviews safeguarding policies. Gemma's career has heavily involved working with children and families in a safeguarding context.
