Summary

Support volunteers across Join the Chocolution! We’re seeking one or more friendly, organised people to share coordination tasks year-round and for the festival

Detailed description

Support a growing team of change-makers working for justice through chocolate.

Join Join the Chocolution as a Volunteer Coordinator and help us build a kind, well-supported volunteer community across our year-round activities — including the Norwich Chocolate Festival Fortnight (18–31 October 2025), creative projects, and wider social impact work.

We’re looking for one or more experienced, reliable people who can share coordination tasks — either by dividing responsibilities (e.g. scheduling, communication) or working together flexibly as capacity allows.

✨ Role Summary

As part of the Volunteer Coordination team, you will:

  • Help recruit, welcome, and schedule volunteers across various roles
  • Support team communications (via email, WhatsApp, Zoom, etc.)
  • Keep rotas and contact details up to date
  • Co-lead occasional induction sessions (online or in Norwich)
  • Support volunteers during key events — especially in October
  • Promote care, respect and belonging across the team

This role is ideal for someone (or a small team) with good organisational skills, people experience, and a calm, friendly approach.

⏰ Time Commitment

  • Approx. 3–5 hours per week per person, increasing slightly in October
  • Flexible around your availability — can be shared or divided
  • Occasional in-person support in Norwich, mostly remote

💼 Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have previous experience coordinating volunteers, events, or community teams
  • Are organised, good with people, and confident using basic digital tools
  • Can work collaboratively with others and take initiative when needed
  • Share our commitment to dignity, inclusion, and social justice

Whether you're volunteering solo or with a friend/colleague, we’re open to shaping the role around you.

🎁 What You’ll Get

  • Be part of a welcoming, values-led team
  • Help shape an emerging movement from the inside
  • Priority access to festival and project events
  • Gain or grow coordination experience in a meaningful context
  • And yes — there will be excellent chocolate 🍫

📍 Location

Remote, with optional meetups or induction sessions in Norwich

About Join the Chocolution

Non-profit or community initiative (CIC in development)

About Us
Join the Chocolution is a new and evolving community initiative, forming and developing to become a UK Community Interest Company (CIC).

Our mission is to elevate the voice of cocoa-growing communities and build a people-powered movement for change in chocolate. We use chocolate as a tool — a lens — to explore and highlight issues of injustice, inequality, and environmental harm.

Because chocolate is something so many people love deeply, it becomes a powerful entry point: If we can create meaningful change in chocolate, what else might be possible?

Our Core Commitments
🔗 Build a collaborative and inclusive community
📢 Amplify cocoa-growing community voices and leadership
🌱 Champion environmental and social justice in chocolate
✊ Stand against trafficking, slavery, and forced labour
🎨 Use creative, accessible formats to engage all ages and backgrounds
💡 Use chocolate to spark deeper conversations about systems, power, and connection
What We Do
Our work includes:

Festivals and Forums – e.g. Norwich Chocolate Festival & Forum, combining public engagement, discovery, and critical dialogue
Community Events – chocolate dinners, storytelling evenings, and relaxed social events like Choc n Chat and Choc n Chill
Public Education – talks, workshops, and activities exploring the cocoa supply chain, history, flavour, and justice
Sector Engagement – working with hospitality and small business owners to improve responsible sourcing and deepen understanding
Movement Building – launching a UK-wide Chocolution Membership for individuals and organisations ready to take part in change
We are currently inviting UK-based Non-Executive Directors, volunteers, and collaborators to join us as we grow this movement together.
