Summary

NEW Volunteer Drop-In: Join the Chocolution & Norwich Chocolate Festival
A new movement is forming – and we’d love you to be part of it.

Detailed description

This October, a different kind of chocolate festival is coming to Norwich. One that doesn’t just celebrate chocolate – but rethinks it.

🍫 A festival rooted in justice, creativity and connection

🌍 Centring cocoa farmers and their stories

🗣️ Inviting the public to engage in something deeper than a tasting.

At the heart of it is Join the Chocolution – a new movement currently forming, linking people across continents, from cocoa-growing communities to local volunteers, artists, researchers, food lovers and changemakers.

This volunteer drop-in evening is a chance to find out what’s taking shape behind the scenes and explore how you might want to be part of it. You’ll learn about the festival’s aims, the wider Chocolution movement, and the different ways people can contribute – creatively, practically, or through supporting events. There’s no pressure to commit – just come along, ask questions, and see if it sparks something.

✨ What to Expect

Drop in any time between 5:30 and 7:30pm at the beautiful St Giles House Hotel. We’ll be sharing:

🔸 The vision for the Norwich Chocolate Festival and wider movement

🔸 A range of volunteering opportunities – from light-touch to leadership

🔸 Creative, practical, and supportive ways to contribute

🔸 How we’re building something joyful, responsible, and community-led

This is an open space to explore ideas – no pressure to sign up on the spot.

🙋 Who is it for?

This is for you if:

  • You’re curious about joining something new
  • You want to use your time or talents for good
  • You’re excited about justice, creativity or cocoa
  • You want to meet like-minded people in Norwich

We especially welcome people who are disabled, neurodivergent, or have faced barriers to traditional volunteering. Our access-first approach aims to make space for everyone.

About Join the Chocolution

Non-profit or community initiative (CIC in development)

About Us
Join the Chocolution is a new and evolving community initiative, forming and developing to become a UK Community Interest Company (CIC).

Our mission is to elevate the voice of cocoa-growing communities and build a people-powered movement for change in chocolate. We use chocolate as a tool — a lens — to explore and highlight issues of injustice, inequality, and environmental harm.

Because chocolate is something so many people love deeply, it becomes a powerful entry point: If we can create meaningful change in chocolate, what else might be possible?

Our Core Commitments
🔗 Build a collaborative and inclusive community
📢 Amplify cocoa-growing community voices and leadership
🌱 Champion environmental and social justice in chocolate
✊ Stand against trafficking, slavery, and forced labour
🎨 Use creative, accessible formats to engage all ages and backgrounds
💡 Use chocolate to spark deeper conversations about systems, power, and connection
What We Do
Our work includes:

Festivals and Forums – e.g. Norwich Chocolate Festival & Forum, combining public engagement, discovery, and critical dialogue
Community Events – chocolate dinners, storytelling evenings, and relaxed social events like Choc n Chat and Choc n Chill
Public Education – talks, workshops, and activities exploring the cocoa supply chain, history, flavour, and justice
Sector Engagement – working with hospitality and small business owners to improve responsible sourcing and deepen understanding
Movement Building – launching a UK-wide Chocolution Membership for individuals and organisations ready to take part in change
We are currently inviting UK-based Non-Executive Directors, volunteers, and collaborators to join us as we grow this movement together.
