Detailed description

Role Purpose:

To strengthen the relationship between the community and Norfolk Constabulary by attending and co-ordinating others to attend local SNAP (Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel) meetings, maintaining regular contact with local police teams, and ensuring that community concerns, priorities, and successes are shared in both directions. This role is key to promoting transparency, accountability, and partnership in community safety efforts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the community or relevant voluntary groups (e.g., Neighbourhood Watch, Crimestoppers) at SNAP meetings across Norfolk.
  • Liaise regularly with local police officers and safer neighbourhood teams to maintain open communication channels.
  • Gather feedback from the community on local crime and safety concerns and feed these into SNAP discussions.
  • Share updates from SNAP meetings back with the community and local groups in a clear, accessible way.
  • Monitor agreed priorities and actions from SNAP meetings, tracking progress and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with other community volunteers, coordinators, and stakeholders to support joint initiatives.
  • Help set local safety priorities that reflect both police intelligence and resident concerns.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in attending and contributing to meetings
  • Organised and reliable, with good note-taking and reporting skills
  • Ability to remain impartial and represent a broad community voice
  • Respect for confidentiality and sensitive information
  • A passion for building safer, more connected communities

  • Ongoing support from local lead coordinators and/or relevant charity contacts
  • Opportunities to attend relevant training, community safety workshops, and networking events
