Summary

Vision Norfolk's CYPF volunteers play a valuable role in helping to support children and young people so that they can enjoy a wide range of activities.

Detailed description

As a CYPF volunteer, your role could include trips to the zoo, activity centres, theme parks, crazy golf and much more, plus you get your own special CYPF hoodie and t-shirt too. We pay approved travel expenses, meaning that you will never be out of pocket when volunteering with us. Our activities are often singular events, meaning that you can dip in and out of volunteering with us, rather than having to commit to something on a regular basis.

A Safer Recruitment policy is in place to safe safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults. A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will need to be undertaken in advance of the event to ensure that you do not have any convictions that mean that you are unsuitable for working with children. Most older convictions and those that do not affect your suitability for working with children are not considered relevant. DBS checks for volunteers are free. All CYPF volunteers must also undertake online safeguarding training as part of your induction, all of which is funded by Vision Norfolk.

Prior experience of working with children and young people would be advantageous, but not essential. We are looking for volunteers who are empathetic, understanding and who can demonstrate effective communication skills whilst at the same time, encouraging clients to maintain their independence.

Becoming a volunteer is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference and support your local community. We offer ongoing advice, support and training and will be happy to provide a volunteering reference should you need it for future job applications or other opportunities that you wish to pursue.
