You can play an important role in providing people with wheelchairs and other equipment to help them get moving again after illness or injury.

The British Red Cross is the UK part of body of the worldwide neutral and impartial humanitarian network, with over 17,000 volunteers in the UK alone.

If you like meeting people and making a huge difference to their lives, this is the role for you! You’ll be providing people with wheelchairs and other equipment to help them get out of the house and moving again after illness or injury. Ideally you will live within 10 miles of the British Red Cross offices in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft Waveney.

Volunteers need to be able to commit on a weekly basis to cover one shift each week between

10AM – 1PM, 1PM – 4PM or 10AM – 4PM Monday to Friday and to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 12 months. The role will involve some manual handling and moving of mobility aids equipment.

Diversity is something Red Cross celebrates, and they want you to be able to bring your authentic self to the Red Cross and feel that you belong.

They want to create an inclusive environment and promote and spread the power of kindness. As part of creating an inclusive space they have an expenses policy that prioritises volunteers not being out of pocket for expenses linked to your role. If up-front costs are difficult, there are options available. Red Cross welcome refugees, asylum seekers and others currently in the UK to volunteer and want volunteering to be accessible to everyone.
