Join this friendly group of volunteers with a passion for maintaining the beautiful gardens with the grounds of The Venetian Waterways.

The Waterways was constructed in 1926 by the local men of the town as a project designed to boost post war employment and tourism. The project took inspiration from the city of Venice and in particular the Rialto Bridge.

Almost 100 years on from its creation, the same Waterways exist today.

The local community has played a vital role throughout the restoration and beyond. Their investment of time and energy is why this seven-acre public park is well kept, loved and visited by so many people each year.

Our friendly and amazing volunteers support horticultural tasks, site maintenance, painting of structures, litter picking, and even supporting the running of the Island café.

Volunteers meet up weekly to nurture the gardens around The Venetian Waterways. You will be required to use basic gardening tools, planting, weeding and removing litter. No experience required but a passion for the outdoors is an advantage!
