Volunteers are needed to assist with general reception duties for DIAL Great Yarmouth, based at Kingside, 26/27 King Street, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk

Detailed description

DIAL Great Yarmouth is a registered charity, which provides a free information service. Formed in 1985 we offer information and advice to disabled people, and carers, on all aspects of daily living, including Housing, Welfare Rights and Benefits. Our service is confidential and can be accessed by telephone, letter, email or personal visit to our fully accessible office.


Main Tasks:



•        Answering the telephone.

•        Assisting with visitor enquiries.

•        General office duties, including making appointments and using databases to log calls and visits to the office, and to create or update Client files.


Qualities and Experience:


•        Previous experience of Reception/office work is desirable but not essential.

•        Good computer skills.

•        Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

•        Good customer service skills.

•        Must be able to work as part of a small team.

•        Must be able to work unsupervised.

•        Must be honest, trustworthy, enthusiastic, and willing.

•        Must be reliable and punctual.

•        Always use discretion and integrity.

•        Have an outgoing and friendly personality.

•        Smart but casual in appearance.

•        Experience and knowledge of disabilities desirable but not essential

•        Flexibility to cover sickness and/or holidays if required.


All volunteers are responsible for:


•        Working to the policies of DIAL Great Yarmouth

•        Promoting equal opportunities and respecting diversity within all aspects of their work

•        Compliance with Health & Safety regulations

•        Carrying out additional duties, where appropriate, which may be allocated from time to time by the Chair of the Board of Trustees
