Summary
To welcome people to a welcoming session for those who are looking for information around finances, job seeking or starting a new business.
Detailed description
We are aiming to create a supportive social space where partner organisations can share knowledge and people can be signposted to different sources of support.
Main Duties
- To make people welcome at the session, provide a hot drink and facilitate a social gathering where people can share their situations and find their next step
- To signpost resources such as our IT sessions which can help build confidence with using IT
- To be aware of other sources of support such as DWP, Citizens Advice Service, careers advisors, the BIPC offer within the library service and some online resources - these will all be provided in a handbook for volunteers.
- Partners will be attending to share their offer with customers, whether around finances and money saving tips, support with looking for work or starting a business.

· Understand the financial difficulties that people may be facing
· A professional approach when listening to people’s situations
· Understand the need for confidentiality
· A willingness to learn the basic offers from different partners
We can provide training in the following areas to support you in this role:
· Induction to the library
· Support with resources that are available to people
Ongoing support will be available through the staff within the library and the library manager.
Volunteer travel expenses can be reimbursed to allow a volunteer to participate in this volunteering role.
Roles that involve working with children or vulnerable adults, or other duties as described in the Rehabilitation of Offenders act 1974 (exceptions) and will be subject to disclosure of criminal convictions through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
A DBS check is not required for this role.
