Summary

The Stockroom Support Volunteer will provide assistance to East Coast Community Healthcare’s Store Person in Lowestoft.

Detailed description

The purpose of a stockroom support volunteer is to assist East Coast Community Healthcare’s (ECCH) Store Person to ensure that stock is managed efficiently by auditing and replenishing equipment used by the clinical nursing teams. By supporting ECCH’s Store Person with this role, volunteers will help reduce wastage of clinical staff time (with nurses able to quickly locate items) as well as helping to prevent over ordering or items running out through effective rotation and auditing of stock. Volunteers will also help to maintain a safe and clear environment by helping to put away deliveries promptly and collapsing and disposing of packaging.

The role is based at Hamilton House, Battery Green Rd, Lowestoft NR32 1DE and/or Kirkley Mill Health Centre, Clifton Road, Lowestoft NR33 0HF. The shift is 2-4 hours depending on whether you help at one or both sites. The shift is on Thursdays between 12pm-4pm.

Key tasks include:

•      Moving and opening boxes of new stock and putting items away.

•      Ensuring the stockroom is kept tidy.

•      Ensuring shelves are all signed correctly.

•      Flattening empty boxes and taking them to the recycling area.

•      Taking inventory of supplies.

This opportunity will suit someone who is physically well and mobile enough to lift and carry boxes of stock and to undertake manual handling tasks safely.

You don't need any previous experience in healthcare environment.

You will need the ability to follow instructions and guidance from staff and to inspire trust and confidence by being reliable and punctual.

This role requires a basic or standard DBS check. If you have previous convictions these will not necessarily prevent you from volunteering and we would still welcome your application. We assess any criminal record disclosures on a case by case basis and you will be supported through the application process by a volunteer coordinator.
