Detailed description

Girlguiding Anglia is looking to recruit a Trustee (External) to join its Executive Committee


As a trustee you will contribute to shaping the future direction for Girlguiding Anglia and be responsible for ensuring the charity meets all legal obligations. We are open to applications from all over the Anglia region from non Girlguiding members. You must be eligible to serve as a trustee of a charity, including being aged 18 or over.


To complement our existing skills we are particularly interested in individuals with experience in one of the following areas, although those with other skill-sets are also very welcome to apply:


  • digital media
  • business development
  • fundraising and income generation


Although much of our work takes place within a national context, there is still huge scope for developing a distinctive regional flavour of what we offer to our members.

  • An ability to work effectively as a member of the executive committee team.
  • A commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.



What difference will you make?


The primary responsibilities of trustees of the Anglia executive committee include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. To provide leadership and to be responsible for the strategic direction and ultimate delivery of guiding in Anglia region.
  2. To foster the growth and spirit of The Guide Association, uphold and apply its values and the principles of equality and diversity within Anglia region, and refer all matters concerning policy to the association executive committee.
  3. To ensure all relevant information to and from Anglia region and the association executive committee is effectively communicated.
  4. To be responsible for managing the finances of Anglia region.
  5. To manage the Anglia region effectively by setting and approving policies, plans and budgets to achieve its objectives, and monitoring performance against them.
  6. To ensure that the Anglia region complies with all relevant legislation, regulations and requirements of the Charity Commission and The Guide Association.
  7. To appoint the executive manager and other key personnel.
  8. To set and maintain a framework of delegation and internal control.
  9. To regularly review the risks to which Anglia region is subject to and agree or ratify all policies and decisions on matters which might create significant risk, financial or otherwise.
