About Local RecallInterested in local history? Like the idea of looking through old newspaper stories and adverts from days gone by? Got an eye for detail?
The Local Recall Project is digitising the Eastern Daily Press newspaper archives, making them accessible to the public online via cutting edge chat bot and voice search technology.
We scan the newspapers with the latest text recognition software to create digital versions of the stories and adverts. However, smudged ink or wear and tear can affect the text captured.
Here’s where our Community Editors step in.
We’ve developed an easy-to-use editing platform where volunteers can create an account, log in and help us to enhance the digital files so they are ship shape before submission to the Local Recall platform.
All you need is a computer or laptop, internet access and an email address to sign up as a volunteer!
There are no minimum or maximum expectations in terms of contributions and volunteers can take part from the comfort of their own homes.
