We are going through a re-structure and are looking for applicants with governance backgrounds and awareness of safeguarding to become trustees of our charity.
As we continue to grow and strengthen our services, we're actively seeking individuals who are committed to our cause and can bring valuable expertise to our organisation. As a trustee, you would be an integral part of the Charity’s governance. You’d meet people from different cultures, backgrounds, take part in the committee meetings knowing you are contributing to a worthwhile cause and acquiring new skills perhaps in areas unfamiliar to you.
This role is suited to candidates who can demonstrate professional or skills-based knowledge of benefit to the charity. We would particularly welcome applications from people with experience in the third sector, PR, fundraising, governance, risk management, management and law, and accountancy.
You would be helping us deliver our important work, of helping to create a world where individuals with learning disabilities are not just seen but are valued equally, heard, and included. Our commitment goes beyond providing services; it's about fostering a community that embraces diversity, champions fairness, and stands up for what is right. With a foundation built on trust, care, and positivity, we strive to empower those we serve to lead fulfilling lives, actively engage in their communities, and access opportunities available to everyone.
The role of Trustee is one that can offer considerable satisfaction, as well as various challenges. It does require time and commitment, but it is an incredibly rewarding role where you can make a real difference. The people here at Mid Norfolk Mencap will support you fully to be the best you can be in your role.

About Mid Norfolk Mencap
We are Mid Norfolk Mencap, an independent charity established in 1977, supporting people with learning disabilities across Norfolk. With over 16,500 adults in the county estimated to have a learning disability, we recognise the growing need for high-quality, community-based support. We are a Mencap Network Partner. Our vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to, and fully included, and our mission is to enable the people we support to lead fulfilling lives, be active members of their communities, and access the same opportunities as everyone else.
We deliver this through a range of services. Our Community Outreach Service works with adults to build skills, confidence, and independence through personalised support plans, helping them achieve their goals and engage with their communities. We also run the Dereham and District Gateway Club, a safe and sociable space offering activities and connection for our members. Guided by our values of inclusivity, trust, care, positivity, and a commitment to challenging inequality, we are continuing to develop new services to meet local needs and expand our reach across Norfolk.
