Summary
To help support a Job Club session aimed at people who would like to improve their digital skills for job searching and applying for work.Detailed description
Norfolk Libraries run Job Club sessions to support people who are looking to improve their digital skills and increase opportunities to apply for work. The sessions are relaxed and friendly and a range of resources are available to support people visiting the library. Volunteers can help with any or all of the following:
- Making people welcome at the sessions
- Supporting with accessing digital skills training through Learn My Way
- Increase online confidence by demonstrating relevant job sites and the Find a Job site
- Supporting with setting up an email address if necessary
- Supporting with preparing and electronic CV (the customer will provide all information)
- Demonstrating how to complete forms to apply for work
- To encourage safe use of the internet
Volunteers will need to have the following skills:
- Good communication skills
- Competent IT skills, knowledge of MS Office, Email and Online Search Engines
- Confident dealing with a wide range of adults with different learning needs
- Good time management
- Able to communicate to a wide variety of people
We can provide training in the following areas to support you in this role)
- Induction to the library
- Training in Data Protection
- Health and Safety aspects of role
- Introductory training on public computers in libraries, their requirements and limitations and how they differ from home PCs
- Introduction to Find a Job site
- Introduction to Learn My Way website
Ongoing support will be available through library staff and the library manager.
