The Community Engagement Lead is a senior volunteer role supporting the planning, coordination and growth of Norwich Samaritans’ presence in the local community

Working alongside the Publicity Lead and Outreach Coordinator, this role helps oversee the branch’s outreach activities and publicity efforts, ensuring the organisation remains visible, accessible, and connected to people across Norwich. The role contributes directly to raising awareness of the services Samaritans offer and strengthening relationships with local organisations, groups, and communities.  

 Key Responsibilities  

  • Support the Branch Director and Board of Trustees in implementing the branch’s community engagement strategy 
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of the Outreach Coordinator and Publicity Lead, offering guidance, support, and coordination as needed  
  • Work with the Publicity Lead to ensure consistent, accurate, and engaging communication through social media, local press, newsletters, and other channels 
  • Build and maintain relationships with local organisations, services, businesses, and networks to promote awareness and collaboration 
  • Identify opportunities for new outreach initiatives, partnerships, and community-facing activities 
  • Ensure all publicity and outreach activities adhere to Samaritans guidelines, safeguarding principles, and brand standards 
  • Attend branch meetings and provide updates on engagement activities and plans 
  • Prepare written reports (e.g., quarterly) for Trustee meetings as required 
  • Represent Norwich Samaritans professionally at community events and external meetings
