We’re looking for people to help us give guided walks around Kings Lynn to primary school groups, approx midday, 27 April - 1 May, with training on 23 March.
At Spinning Wheel Theatre HQ, we’re on the hunt for volunteers for our ‘Let’s Make History’ project!
We’re looking for people to help us give guided walks around Kings Lynn to primary school groups, sharing Iron Age knowledge in a fun and interactive way. These walks form part of our Iron Age experience day, where children will also spend time at Lynn Museum doing ‘hands-on history workshops’ and get to see a new ‘horrible histories’ style play at Stories of Lynn
You don’t need to have ever led a guided walk before, or know anything about Iron Age or Iceni history – we’ll provide all the training you’ll need to feel confident and knowledgeable. Plus, you’ll give these guided walks in teams or pairs, so you won’t have to fly solo! You just need to be enthusiastic, reliable and happy to give it a go.
This is the perfect opportunity for anyone with some spare hours in the daytime, those looking for a new skill or hobby to explore, or an opportunity to meet new people. It could also be a chance to get some experience if you’re planning on training to become a teacher, or want to work with children or in heritage or tourism. Alternatively, if you like getting out and about in the fresh air, or enjoy a bit of performing this could be just the fit for you.
DATES:
23rd March - You’ll need to be available to attend our training day on Monday 23 March, 10-4 at Stories of Lynn in Kings Lynn (lunch, refreshments and travel expenses provided)
w/c 27th April – The 30min walk will take place on 27 April – 1 May approx between 11.30-1.30 (exact times to be confirmed). You do not need to be available for all 5 days, but we ask you can attend at least 2 days during this week.
What you’ll get from us:
· A DBS check if you do not already have one
· Any travel expenses reimbursed
· Full training provided
· Opportunity to see our new play ‘Rampage through the Iron Age’ for free
· The chance to gain some new skills, meet new people and have fun
