Charity Treasurer

Volunteer Treasurer – SYEP 

SYEP is a community-based charity supporting children and young people through sport, education and targeted youth work. We are seeking a committed and experienced Volunteer Treasurer to oversee the charity’s financial management and support its continued growth and sustainability. 

This is a voluntary, unpaid role, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a local charity. 

Key Responsibilities 

• · Oversee SYEP’s finances and ensure appropriate financial controls are in place 
• · Manage payroll and ensure staff are paid accurately and on time 
• · Pay supplier invoices and manage outgoing payments 
• · Issue and monitor invoices for funders and partners 
• · Support budget monitoring and cashflow management 
• · Provide clear and regular financial updates to the trustee board 
• · Work with external accountants and support year-end processes 

Person Specification 

• · Accounting or finance experience (essential) 
• · Experience with charity or not-for-profit finances (desirable) 
• · Understanding of payroll and financial compliance 
• · Strong attention to detail and organisational skills 
• · Ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance trustees 
• · Commitment to SYEP’s aims and values 

About the Role 

• · Voluntary trustee position (unpaid)
• · Charity turnover: approximately £250,000 per year
• · Time commitment to be agreed and flexible
