Volunteer Treasurer – SYEP
SYEP is a community-based charity supporting children and young people through sport, education and targeted youth work. We are seeking a committed and experienced Volunteer Treasurer to oversee the charity’s financial management and support its continued growth and sustainability.
This is a voluntary, unpaid role, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a local charity.
Key Responsibilities
- · Oversee SYEP’s finances and ensure appropriate financial controls are in place
- · Manage payroll and ensure staff are paid accurately and on time
- · Pay supplier invoices and manage outgoing payments
- · Issue and monitor invoices for funders and partners
- · Support budget monitoring and cashflow management
- · Provide clear and regular financial updates to the trustee board
- · Work with external accountants and support year-end processes
Person Specification
- · Accounting or finance experience (essential)
- · Experience with charity or not-for-profit finances (desirable)
- · Understanding of payroll and financial compliance
- · Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- · Ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance trustees
- · Commitment to SYEP’s aims and values
About the Role
- · Voluntary trustee position (unpaid)
- · Charity turnover: approximately £250,000 per year
- · Time commitment to be agreed and flexible
