Summary
Can you share your love of all things artistic and creative? We are looking for volunteers to run art and craft workshops for people to "Give It A Go!".Detailed description
Can you share your love of all things artistic and creative? Art and craft in all forms is a great way to engage people, providing a fun group, social interaction and meaningful activity.
We are looking for volunteers to facilitate a group(s) involving anything art or craft based - painting, graffiti art, mandala dot painting rocks, sculpture, collage, weaving, macrame, lego models - anything! Ideally, as this is a "give it a go" activity we would like something different each week/fortnight - you don't have to be an expert in everything, enthusiasm and friendliness are most important!
We have a very limited budget so are unable to buy lots of equipment but we will try our best to enable this to happen.
No groupwork experience is necessary but you do need to be able to encourage everyone to join in and feel comfortable.
This is an amazing learning and development opportunity, whilst at the same time enabling people in recovery, and their families to increase their confidence, make a positive contribution to their own ongoing recovery and the wider community.
Tasks may include, but not limited to:
*delivery of art and craft related activities to a small group
*possibly help develop an exhibition of work
*supporting and motivating individuals
*help in setting up equipment for sessions

As well as the individuals themselves, our work also creates social change and improvements to the local community in a range of different ways. These include improved family relationships and friendships, reductions in drug/alcohol misuse, reduced strain on local health and wellbeing services, reductions in rates of offending, and improved skills and employment outcomes for our service users, all of which help to regenerate the local community.
