Volunteer drivers are needed to keep our much-valued community car scheme going.
We are hoping to recruit more drivers to ensure that we always have somebody available to take people for their appointments.
A real benefit of driving for the scheme is getting to know people in the village, and the feeling of doing something that is very much appreciated and valued within the community.
The majority of requests are for visits to Mattishall Surgery and the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital, but there are many other destinations too.
More drivers means fewer journeys for each of them. Do get in touch for a chat about joining us!

Yaxham Community Car Scheme was set up in January 2015 to offer transport to residents of Yaxham who may have mobility issues, or don't have their own transport.The service is primarily for medical appointments but sometimes journeys for other reasons are made. We currently have 10 volunteer drivers, most of whom are busy people. It is rare that we are unable to offer help with a request for a journey. A list of destinations with charges is given to all registered passengers; two thirds of the cost is paid by passengers and one third paid from a grant issued by the Yaxham Parish Charity. Charges are considerably lower than a taxi would be and passengers appreciate that they usually know who will drive them. Occasionally drivers are asked to accompany their passengers to an appointment - most are pleased to do so.
