Detailed description
Change Grow Live believe that those who access our services should be at the heart of everything that we do and those who have lived experience have a unique and valuable insight into how our services can work best. In this role you will help us to engage with the people who access our services, making sure their voices are heard and that they have say in how we run services in Norfolk.
An important part of the role is listening to people and sharing what you have heard with the service, representing their views, and using their feedback to help inform how we develop and improve our services. You will help to ensure people hear about any decisions or changes that are made because of their feedback. You will be working with Change Grow Live staff and connecting with the wider community.

Responsibilities
- Engage with those who access our services, by listening to their views and asking for their feedback
- Represent the views and opinions of those who access our services
- Provide feedback and updates to those who access our services informing them of any changes and decisions.
- Work with staff and community to improve and develop the service
- Lead on service user meetings
- Promote and encourage ongoing service development in a variety of different ways within the service and community.
- Create a safe space for the people who access services to connect, be open and tell us what they honestly think and believe
- Be part of interview panels for new staff
- Help to hear the voice of the underrepresented
In carrying out the above role the volunteer will:
- Help Change Grow Live fulfil its role in offering the best service to our clients.
- Perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability.
- Follow the Change Grow Live’s procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities, in relation to our staff, volunteers and clients.
- Maintain the confidential information of Change Grow Live and of our clients; adhering to Change Grow Live’s policies and procedures
- Meet the time commitments and standards which have been mutually agreed and to give reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made when this is not possible.
Skills, experience, and qualities
- Understanding of the challenges faced by those who access our service
- Understand how to represent someone in a non-judgmental and impartial way
- Good listening and communication skills
- Compassion and empathy for others
- Willingness to be open and honest
This post is for our Great Yarmouth site and we are also recruiting for the role in Norwich.
The successful applicant for the role in Great Yarmouth must be able to volunteer at least Mondays and Fridays.

Our services include medical treatment. This might include substitute prescribing or medication that helps prevent relapse.
We have needle exchanges where you can find harm reduction advice. There is also blood-borne virus testing, naloxone training and access to other services.
We have hubs in Norwich, Thetford, King's Lynn and Great Yarmouth but we also see people in the community. This means we can support you wherever in Norfolk you may live.
