Summary

The hospice's popular cafe needs extra help in the kitchen and with serving customers. Ideally you'd lend a hand for three or four hours a week.

Detailed description

The hospice café is open daily and offers meals and snacks for all - staff, visitors, patients and others who care to drop in. You'd be working alongside our catering team to help the cafe run smoothly - and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

What you'll be doing

• loading and unloading the dishwasher

• washing some dishes by hand if needed

• serving customers by taking orders

• accepting cash and electronic payments

• restocking cutlery and crockery shelves

• taking meals to customers' tables

• following all food hygiene and safety rules

• carrying out high standards of cleaning

• reporting any health and safety incidents - like near misses or accidents

If you've worked or volunteered in catering or hospitality before and have a food hygiene qualification that would be very useful but full training will be provided. What we really want is someone who can be flexible, see what needs doing and get on with it and cooperate with others.

Because the cafe is open every day of the week, we especially need people who can help on Saturdays and Sundays - between 10am and 3pm.

Getting there

The hospice is in Hillington, a village near King's Lynn. There's limited public transport so you'd need your own transport. But there's free parking.

About Tapping House

Tapping House hospice is committed to providing outstanding care for people in the local community living with life-shortening illnesses and to their carers, family and friends including bereavement support.
The support provided is tailored to the individual, encompassing their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs in an understanding, caring and compassionate way, ensuring dignity is maintained throughout.
Care is delivered at the hospice in Hillington, either in the Inpatient Unit, at Day Therapy groups or one-to-one sessions at the hospice. Care is sometimes provided in people’s own homes. Our outstanding care services cost a staggering £5.7million to provide each year and this year alone we will need to raise £4.1 million to provide the care patients truly deserve. We rely on the majority of this coming from the support of local groups, businesses and individuals.
