Detailed description

We are currently looking for Volunteer Bereavement Support Practitioners to join our Support and Information team at our centres based in Norwich, Kings Lynn, or Great Yarmouth.


The objective of the Bereavement Support Practitioner role is to provide emotional and practical support to individuals and families who have been bereaved by cancer; in person, by telephone and/or video calls and signpost users to appropriate Big C and external groups and services.


To be successful in this role, volunteers will need appropriate training and significant work experience in supporting the bereaved. Counselling skills would be desirable along with excellent communication and listening skills. You must understand personal and professional boundaries while remaining compassionate and patient.

We will provide an induction into the Centre and its services, ongoing support from a named member of staff, and additional training as required for your role.
