Smell and Taste Action Group Volunteer

Fifth Sense is the leading charity for smell and taste disorders and our vision is to transform society’s understanding of the importance of the senses of smell and taste, and through doing so, transform the lives of those affected by smell and taste disorders.

With thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund we have secured funding for a new project to set up Smell and Taste Action Groups. We need your local expertise, connections and personal experience of smell and taste disorders to help us reach communities in the UK.

Your support will directly impact individuals living with these conditions, providing a sense of community and hope. Help us create a lasting impact, shedding light on these conditions and advancing the invaluable work of Fifth Sense.

What you will be doing:

As a Group Lead, you will play an important role in providing support, raising awareness, and fundraising.

Ideally you will do this role along with another lead volunteer to share the load and with support from Fifth Sense you will build a small team of volunteers to do one or more of the following:

1. Raise awareness about smell and taste disorders through events, information materials, and local media
2. Plan regular peer group meetings for people living with smell or taste disorders to connect, share experiences and support each other
3. Provide smell safety information to local groups
4. Fundraise funds for your group’s activity and to support the work of Fifth Sense
5. Connect with healthcare professionals and organisations to build partnerships and expand support for those with smell and taste disorders
6. Advocate for better policies and resources for research, diagnosis, and treatment of these disorders
