Summary

We are looking for a volunteer to cover our Mini Movers sessions on Tuesdays at 2pm.

Detailed description

The aim of this role is to deliver an interactive Mini Movers session which promotes movement and literacy to early years children and their families.


As a volunteer you will need to:


  • Prepare and plan the session with songs and rhymes which promote movement (Sticky Kids CD provided)
  • Set up the area with necessary equipment
  • Participate in the session, demonstrating the actions, leading the singing of rhymes and songs
  • Work with the Library Manager as necessary regarding the preparation and delivery of the session
  • Help make parents aware of other services for children that are also available within the library
  • Promote joining the library and the Bookstart scheme available to families
  • Help set up and clear away at the beginning and end of each session
  • Helping adults attending the session to choose books with their children at the end of the session
  • Encourage people from a wide range of backgrounds to participate in sessions


Key skills include:


  • Good communication skills  
  • Ability to provide a friendly, approachable and professional customer service
  • Enjoys working with young children & a desire to encourage young children to engage in singing, rhyming & reading
  • A good rapport with young children and their carers
  • Able to attend regular weekly session
