Summary

Volunteer Passenger Assistants needed for charity minibus service to assist disabled and elderly people in Norwich get out and about.

Detailed description

As a charitable organisation, Norwich Door to Door's aim is to reduce isolation and loneliness, overcome barriers to social inclusion and improve health and wellbeing. The charity promotes independence through accessible transport with priority given to those unable to utilise public transport. If you would like to be a part of the solution in overcoming the issues encountered by our ageing and disabled community, why not join our friendly, caring team and volunteer as a passenger assistant.

Our driving teams collect passengers from their homes and assist them onto our mini-buses, ensuring their comfort and safety for the duration of the journey. This can include escorting passengers out their homes, locking up behind them, carrying shopping or bags to the vehicle, assisting them to their seat and fastening seatbelts or securing wheelchairs.

This is a customer-facing role and is ideal for someone who is friendly, outgoing and compassionate and understands the impact of loneliness and isolation on vulnerable people.

Additional duties include assisting the driver with navigation when required, communicating with the office and collecting passenger fares.

Full training is provided and includes First Aid, Passenger Accredited Training and Dementia Awareness. Candidates are subject to a DBS check.

This is a voluntary role and as such no reimbursement will be made for any time given to support this activity. Travel costs and any service-related expenditure incurred on behalf of the charity will be reimbursed.
