Summary

Our Weekend Walkabout Programme hosts monthly short walks for adults with disabilities within the city, coast and countryside. This role will plan and lead them

Detailed description

Our Weekend Walkabout Programme hosts monthly short walks for adults with disabilities within the city, coast and countryside of Norfolk. This voluntary role will plan and lead them.

They mostly take place on a Sunday afternoon for up to 6-8 people for up to 3 miles in length over 2 hours maximum and are supported by two volunteers.

The Lead Volunteer for our Walkabout programme will identify and select one walk per calendar month based on accessibility by public transport, and local interest. Details will need to be shared with BUILD Charity staff in good time for the details to be published in a seasonal programme. As a guide, this will be between 2-4 months before the actual walk takes place.

The Volunteer will receive information about the people who are attending and all the arrangements for participants will be handled by the BUILD Charity Administration staff. The volunteer is required to plan in advance, and lead on the day.

Opportunities also exist for Support Volunteers to join the team.

We can offer you training in better understanding the needs of our members, and safeguarding, and will offer you a refund of your travel expenses in supporting this activity.

You will also join a team of over 50 volunteers and have the opportunity to support any of the 250-300 activities that we offer throughout the year.
