Summary

Whatever you level of gardening skills we would love to hear from you to develop and maintain an area outside our Centre for our members and the community.

Detailed description

Green fingers needed (or people who like to be outside doing something productive).

Whatever you level of gardening skills we would love to hear from you. Our amazing Recovery Centre on Oak Street in Norwich has a small area outside that needs some TLC. We are creating a team of people who would like to help us develop and maintain this area for the benefit of our members and the community.

Initially we are anticipating that the group will meet on a Thursday and you are welcome to volunteer an hour or longer.

Tasks will include grass/hedge cutting, planting of flowers/brushes and some maintenance (e.g. fence/gate painting). You will be rewarded with tea/coffee, and sometimes even bakes from our kitchen – well worth it for that alone!

Enthusiasm and friendliness important.

Volunteers will work alongside our staff and members and help support staff with ensuring health and safety policies are adhered to.

Personal qualities are very important:-

 good listening skills

 positive attitude

 reliability

 good communication skills

 commitment to recovery principles

What we will provide to volunteers

💸 Reimbursement of costs

Getting there

We are the city side of Oak Street, approximately 8 minutes walk from the city centre.

About The Matthew Project

Our work benefits a wide range of people from a wide range of different backgrounds. We help these beneficiaries to achieve better physical and mental health, better relationships with others, and overall better quality of life, along with access to more opportunities.

As well as the individuals themselves, our work also creates social change and improvements to the local community in a range of different ways. These include improved family relationships and friendships, reductions in drug/alcohol misuse, reduced strain on local health and wellbeing services, reductions in rates of offending, and improved skills and employment outcomes for our service users, all of which help to regenerate the local community.
