Are you able to engage with and motivate others, especially when they are going through a difficult time? If so, this may be the role for you.
As a Patient Support Volunteer you would be providing companionship, company and support for patients as well as helping staff with tasks such as gathering meal choices, support at mealtime and tidying non-clinical areas.
Pine Cottage is a very small ward for amputee patients at the Colman Hospital site. This can be a challenging but very rewarding role, to encourage patients to talk, play a game, do a crossword etc. Please only consider this role if you are confident in being able to engage with others. This role is unsuitable for under 18s.
Volunteering for this role involves a regular, ongoing weekly commitment of approximately 2-3 hours.
To volunteer with us, we will need you to complete our volunteer recruitment, including our Volunteers' Induction Training, completing a Standard DBS check, and providing 2 character references.
You will be supported throughout your volunteering by a staff onsite and by your NCH&C Volunteer Coordinator.
