Summary

We are looking for volunteers who live within a reasonable distance of North Walsham to drive either a minibus, or one of our wheelchair accessible cars.

Detailed description

Our volunteer drivers says they really love the social aspect of their role. We ask them to collect all kinds of people from their homes and take them to medical appointments, shopping, to see family, it could be anything. We have a wonderful easy to drive electric car, and although some people are wheelchair users, others may just not have transport of their own, or be able to drive. Many of our passengers are elderly and live in remote areas, so being able to collect them from their houses and take them to where they need to go has a huge impact on them being able to remain independent and living in their own home. We are a small friendly organisation and support our volunteers well with training. The level of commitment if flexible. We welcome informal chats and visits with potential volunteers, so if you are even slightly interested, please contact us to find out more.

About North Norfolk Community Transport

As well as providing minibus transport for shopping and excursions, we have two wheelchair accessible cars that can be booked by people across North Norfolk for a subsidised fare so that they can get to medical appointments or go on social trips. There is a high demand which we cannot meet for this service as there is little else available for people without their own vehicle. Even if a suitable taxi can be found, the cost is prohibitively high. We would like to find more volunteers to help us get people to where they need to go.
