Summary
The hospice is looking for people who'd like to be part of our Board of Trustees - just a few hours a year for quarterly meetings and other events.Detailed description
Becoming a Trustee offers both personal and professional development and is highly rewarding. You'll be part of a team of skilled people who willingly give up their time for the benefit of others. Full induction will be provided and, while the role itself is voluntary, you may be reimbursed for any reasonable expenses incurred in connection with your role.
Our Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation, its financial health and the quality, safety and integrity of its activities in accordance with our governing documents and legal and regulatory guidelines. Trustees work closely with our Senior Management Team and play a valuable role in the development and sustainability of our services.
We're looking for individuals who share our passion and drive for outstanding palliative and end of life care and are willing to contribute their knowledge, skills and experience in support of our wide ranging services. So we're particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have any of the following skills, attributes or experience:
- Finance
- NHS commissioning
- Digital technology
- Income generation, including retail
- Charity/voluntary organisation governance
- Personal experience of our services
The Board meets quarterly with one additional meeting in March/April to approve the annual budget. Trustees are encouraged to join one of the sub-committees, which also meet quarterly. The sub-committees are Finance & Income Generation and Care & Clinical Governance. Trustees are also expected to engage with colleagues in a variety of activities and are encouraged to represent the charity at public events and take an active part in promotional activities.
What we will provide to volunteers
💸 Reimbursement of costsAbout The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House
The support provided is tailored to the individual, encompassing their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs in an understanding, caring and compassionate way, ensuring dignity is maintained throughout.
Care is delivered at the hospice in Hillington, either in the Inpatient Unit, Day Therapy Unit or via one-to-one sessions at the hospice. Care is sometimes provided in people’s own homes.
The current services cost over £2.5 million per year to run; the NHS funds only 32% of this, with the majority coming from the support of local groups, businesses and individuals.
